Robert S. Bright, Founder & President of Talson Solutions, led a discussion on the firm’s eight year involvement in the Panama Canal Expansion Project this May. From design to fabrication to construction, Mr. Bright shared insights and his experience regarding the development of a multi-year continuous audit program. This included the following: knowledge transfer to client internal audit personnel to address program risks including reporting, budget management, contractor compliance, fraud, schedule delays, claims management, quality, labor, project management oversight, vendor management, insurance and much more. Mr. Bright discussed the importance of getting involved early from procurement to operations turnover and presented the many contract types used for this successful program. All participants heard about auditing techniques that benefit any size capital program. Mr. Bright delivered this discussion to the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors meeting in California on May 17.
